I have completed over 900 counselling hours in a variety of settings and am an accredited member of the BACP. I completed my MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Keele University in 2015. This forms the foundation of my practice, but I increasingly see myself as integrative/pluralistic, with the emphasis on the relationship between client and counsellor. My model of supervision puts the supervisory relationship - rather than any particular orientation or process - in the centre of supervision. As much as possible I aim to foster an equal relationship in which you feel safe to learn and grow.

Before retraining I was a teacher and school leader, which gives me a particular focus on the learning process in supervision, tailoring how I work to match your own learning style.

I have a range of experience in private practice and in the voluntary sector: with a colleague I set up Teaching with Heart, an organisation which provides reflective practice and counselling to teachers in their schools. Prior to this I worked as a counsellor in a hospice for three years, and was actively involved in training and mentoring volunteer and placement counsellors. I also have a growing interest in group work and have co-led a Balint group for teachers in the Tavistock Centre in London.

I am passionate about the development of knowledge and skills within counselling, and have had an article published in Therapy Today (September 2016) about the importance of counsellors taking active steps to create their own knowledge. I see supervision as a key component of this process.
